Versatility of use – The compact and self contained PowerWheels™ mobility based wheelchair has a PowerWheels™ transmission in the hub of each wheel. The selection of powered or manual mode of mobility can be electronically engaged with the flick of a switch, enabling the wheelchair user to select the powered mode or manual mode.

Ease of Control – When powered by Powered Mobility Inc.’s PowerWheels™ conversion kit, the wheelchair has a means of accurately maintaining the speed and direction of the wheelchair throughout its range of speeds on level ground or going up or down hills (gradients), even at very low speeds.

Physical Size - A manual wheelchair, using Powered Mobility Inc.'s PowerWheels™ mobility based wheels IS THE SAME WIDTH as the manual wheels they replace. The PowerWheels™ conversion kit technology permits the reduction in physical size of the entire electric-powered motor transmission into the hub of the wheelchair’s wheels, without compromising performance.

Increased efficiency - The PowerWheels™ conversion kit technology provides high efficiency powered motion, which makes possible the longer running time on a small and lightweight battery pack. The HUB Motor Transmission Technology is made up of the custom motor driven by proprietary electronics and software algorithms and an electromechanical transmission topology for torque and speed conversion to maintain efficient utilization of energy over a wide range of speed/torque applications.

Battery size reduction - The PowerWheels™ conversion kit enables reduced battery size while maintaining similar power and usage times when compared to the larger, powered wheelchair batteries.

Installation - The PowerWheels™ conversion kit is very easy to mount onto any manual wheelchair using only a screwdriver and a wrench (supplied with the PowerWheels™ conversion kit ) and can be completed within ½ hour.

Mobility - The PowerWheels™ mobility based manual wheelchair retains the portability of the manual wheelchair. A folding manual wheelchair, when fitted with the PowerWheels™ mobility wheel can still be folded into the same size for storage or transport.
